Wow I’ve been away from my blog for so long! I do apologise followers. Its been one thing after another these past couple of months with family and my health and I haven’t been able to sit down and have time to myself. Now things are looking up thankfully.
Since I last posted I have been crocheting here and there. I managed to finish my Link Sackboy with sword. The pattern did include a shield but after many attempts I couldn’t get the shape right so I just left him with a sword. I will be posting a picture of him soon.
My most recent project is a blanket I made for my nieces 1st birthday. It was crocheted in granny stripe and I’ve heard she loves it. It is now her favourite blanket. I’m now making another granny stripe blanket for my other niece as it is also her 1st birthday in a few weeks. I started it about a week ago and I’m nearly finished already. I thought a blanket would be a great gift as they both have lots of toys and clothes wouldn’t last long. It would be a keepsake for them both. I need to go wool shopping next week.
I have so many projects lined up when I finish this blanket. Next I’m either going to work on an adventure time blanket that will either have each character or just one big picture of Finn the Human. This will be crocheted in solid granny squares. I want to do TMNT Sackboys for myself and the kids as they are mad about the turtles. I also want to make a few cushion covers and a throw over for my new sofa. I want the cushion covers in granny stripe and the throw over in granny square. Im unsure of the colours but once I go wool shopping I’ll make my decisions.
Right as its getting late I’m off to bed now, need to catch up on my sleep although as the clocks go forward tonight I don’t think its going to work. Oh well we shall see.
Goodnight my lovely followers 🙂
Good morning everyone:).
I’ve been stuck on the sofa for the past 3 days with a horrible cold 😦 great start to the new year. I’ve never felt so run down and poorly. Like anyone else I hate being poorly. I’m one of those people who are constantly on the go, I don’t sit down until all jobs are done. And also having a toddler its always playtime. But I think my body needs timeout so I’ve been sofa bound while I recover. Perfect excuse for crochet.
My puff stitch cushion is complete. I started it 4 days ago and its made with two panels. One side is brown and the other is white. It didn’t turn out as big as I wanted to and its not straight at all (some lines where pulled tighter than others) But for my first homeware project I’m proud of it and it is now on my sofa as a scatter cushion. I filled it with fibre filling because I didn’t have a cushion big enough to fit inside and since it went on the sofa my son hasn’t stopped squeezing the life out of it. It must be comfy though, he fell asleep with it last night.
So now its onto cushion number two. This time I’m making a granny square cushion with the colours sparkly grey, grey, black and white. This time it will be a much bigger cushion. Im about half way through it already.
Below are some pictures of my completed cushion. Please let me know your thoughts and if you have any tips for me the will be appreciated very much 🙂
Well here it is everyone, its the start of 2015!!I hope you all had a great Christmas and new year. My Christmas had its ups and downs, my partner lost his nanna to cancer on boxing day so I’ve been trying to keep things positive for the family.
New year was a quiet one, I had a small get together with family and friends. It was also my step daughters birthday so it was a joint celebration.
There was no hangover this morning (although I didn’t drink much) instead I woke up feeling under the weather so I’ve had a chill out day on the sofa with Disney movies on the TV and my crochet. I have nearly finished my cushion cover, I’m making two panels to sew together as I wanted two contrasting colours. So side two is nearly complete. I think if I can stay awake long enough I can get it all sewn up and have it up on my sofa ready to be used. I am planning to make two more cushions for my sofa then I want to go back to arigurumi for a while.
That’s it for today, again happy new year to all my lovely followers 🙂
So I wanted to tell you guys about where my love for crochet came from. I’ve been crocheting since July and I’ve loved it ever since.
It began with a knitting tutorial on YouTube, I had so much wool that was given to me by my nanna and it was collecting dust. I wanted to teach myself to knit and within a month I had knitted a phone case and 11 minion toys for the kids, nieces and nephews.
I tried knitting in the round but I couldn’t get the hang of it so I went onto YouTube and had a look at crochet tutorials. I had tried in the past but I couldn’t get the hang of it. But after watching this beginner tutorial and sticking to it, I managed my first practice piece. I fell in love with crochet straight away and went onto numerous websites for patterns. I couldn’t wait to work on new project.
My first crochet project was a seal arigurumi toy. It took me about a week as I was starting out but to see the finished project was fantastic. I was so proud of myself, not only because I had made something but it was because I had learned a new skill.
Ever since then I have made numerous granny squares for pillows and blankets for my son and nieces. I have made hairbows for my step daughters and nieces. A giant minion for my little brother. A floppy bunny for my friends daughter and I’m making one for my niece at the moment, and I have made a Super Mario Mushroom that my son plays with. Its currently in his toy box. I have also made an owl for a friend. It has gone up on display in his barber shop. I have recently sold a granny square comfort blanket on eBay. I was shocked and surprised and it felt good to know that my work had been looked at and it was good enough to be sold. It felt good to know that my work was appreciated.
Now I’m working on some cushion covers for my sofas, I’m crocheting these in a puff stitch.
My plans for the future are to keep crocheting and hopefully turn it into a small business one day.
Now I’m off to continue with my cushion covers.
See you all soon
Well hello there. Welcome to my blog. My name is Victoria but please call me Vicky.
Here is a little bit about myself. I’m a mum to a beautiful son who makes me proud everyday. I’m a retired freestyle dancer, I was a dancer for over 16 years. My interests include music, art, tattoos, nail art, loom bands, knitting and crochet. I’m a stay at home mum so I spend a lot of my time now with a crochet hook in my hand. I enjoy crocheting toys, but at the moment I’m putting together some cushion covers for my sofa. A lot of my family had crochet gifts for Christmas and it was lovely to see the look on their faces when they opened them. I have so many ideas I would like to try so I also want to use this blog as a diary of my crochet progress.
I could go on and on but I want to keep my intro short and sweet.
I hope you all enjoy my blog. Bye for now 🙂
